Birds can enter bathroom vents from the exterior vent cover. These vent covers are typically plastic and deteriorate fast in the open sun. European Starlings are typically the birds that enter these vents. They can bring in terrible odors from their feces. They also, almost always, bring bird mites that can be extremely difficult to get rid of. These birds can cause major issues to the duct work. They can rip through the duct and enter your attic and ceiling space. Ripped ductwork can cause moisture issues when using the bathroom fan. With ripped ducts, they should be replaced and this may involve cutting into your ceiling!
